About Açaí

Açaí seeds come from the Açaí Palm (Euterpe oleracea), indigenous to the rainforests of South America.Açaí smoothies and “na tigela,” in a bowl with granola, are a staple Brazilian beach fruit stands, often used as a reenergizer for surfers. Although Amazonian tribes have used açaí for some time, Carlos Gracie, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu master popularized the berry in the 80’s by promoting it to his fighters. By utilizing the fruits as sustenance and as seeds in jewelry we can promote the harvesting of the palms rather than cutting them down for their wood.

After the pulp is removed, the seeds are dried and polished.

The beads can be used as their natural color.

They can also be dyed various shades.
